Who is Kayleen?

Kayleen Carter is a 27-year-old professional and charismatic millennial living in West Sacramento, CA where she was born and raised. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from the California State University of Sacramento in May of 2022. Her hobbies include drawing, writing short stories & poetry, listening to podcasts, reading, and having in-depth discussions with her Australian Shepherd, Sky.

    • Pitched weekly story articles, designed graphics via Canva and took photos for story media

    • Contributed live news coverage of school and local community events via Twitter

    • Contributed to the State Hornet’s News Podcast regarding the importance of preferred names and the effect of dead naming on Transgender and Non-binary students as well as the Black experience on campus.

  • • Managed the department’s Facebook and Twitter platforms; responded to messages and assisted customers online

    • Created graphics for social media posts using Canva; scheduled daily posts through Hootsuite and tracked engagement

    • Wrote about the department’s internal affairs and events at the local child support agencies for the monthly newsletter DCSS Today; contacted subject matter experts for story research

    • Wrote scripts for radio/video, public service announcements, and the department’s video resource library on YouTube.

    • Pitched outreach materials to local and major television stations throughout California’s five media market: Bay Area, Fresno-Visalia, Sacramento, and San Diego. Outreach materials included a web banner, news release, and video/radio PSA
